The Lululemon "Astro" pant |
When I first heard about this lawsuit, I assumed they were trying to patent their pants' thick, stretchy, sweat-wicking material (which I am quite fond of, I must admit), which I assumed was created using some kind of fancy technology; I was surprised to hear that it's the waistband that they want to patent. Then again, the waistband is one of the reasons I like Lululemon's pants; it's keeps the pants in place during my practice and makes them extra flattering. It's one of the reasons I'm willing to spend more for these yoga pants, so don't blame the brand for wanting to protect the design.
While the lawsuit will probably have more far-reaching effects for the fashion industry than the yoga community, I'm still intrigued by it. This kind of competition seems somewhat anti-yoga; on the other hand though, Lululemon has a business to run. It will be interesting to see what happens in court.
Have you worn Lululemon's yoga pants? Do you think they are patent-worthy?

not so impressed by their things... too expensive, too tight and too thick!
ReplyDeleteThe men's line is somewhat limited in scope and probably is not affected by the patent dispute. Still, besides the price being a bit hefty, I don't really care for the fit - a bit too baggy for me (72k has shorts for $20 less that fit better).
ReplyDeleteYoga pants are a necessity in practicing yoga. In fact, it is something people can’t do without. Yoga pants have been a major accessory in yoga exercises. Yoga pants have deliberately made people feel comfortable and at ease during a heavy or slight practice.

I heard that we can buy used Lululemon clothes at some good prices. So, it’s a good way to save our money rather than buying new and costly clothes.
ReplyDeleteLululemon Trying to Patent Its Yoga Pants!! That sounds weird but I think that it is one of the best brands that have ever produced quality yoga pants. But it is also true that they are now not getting creative with the apparels whereas the brands like Nike, Adidas and beach riot etc are providing best designer clothes in hundreds of colors.
